Podium Presentation Title: NHL Player Workload and Performance Following Arthroscopic Shoulder Labral Repair
نویسندگان
چکیده
To investigate the impact of arthroscopic shoulder labral repair on career longevity, game utilization, and performance National Hockey League (NHL) players. A retrospective review all NHL players who underwent from 2004-2020 was performed. 2:1 matched control group used for comparison. Controls were by age, BMI, position, experience prior to index year. Demographic characteristics, metrics collected athletes. Statistical analysis examined utilization both at one-year three-year follow-up compared one season before injury. Twenty-nine surgery returned play (100% RTP) with 55 The operative cohort experienced shorter careers controls (4.4 ± 3.1 vs 6.0 3.6 seasons, p ≤ 0.05). After season, injured significant reductions in goals per 60 (0.6 0.4 0.8 0.5, < 0.01), points (1.5 0.9 2.0 0.9, shooting %, (8.5 5.8 10.5 5.2, = 0.02) year prior. reduction 0.01) % 4.7 0.04) persisted three-years. Compared controls, surgical post-index percentage goals, assists, %. Only three seasons post index. Following RTP after labrum repair, demonstrated reduced longevity healthy controls. Players exhibited injury, but closer baseline 3 seasons.

Descriptive report of shoulder range of motion and rotational strength six and 12 weeks following arthroscopic superior labral repair.
OBJECTIVES To measure short-term post surgery glenohumeral internal and external rotation strength, shoulder range of motion (ROM), and subjective self-report ratings following arthroscopic superior labral (SLAP) repair. BACKGROUND Physical therapists provide rehabilitation for patients following arthroscopic repair of the superior labrum. Little research has been published regarding the shor...
متن کاملArthroscopic Triple Labral Repair in an Adolescent
Traumatic glenohumeral dislocations often result in significant injury to the anterior-inferior labrum, most commonly leading to recurrent anterior instability. While in skeletally immature patients, shoulder trauma more commonly results in fracture versus a true dislocation, shoulder instability does occur and can be difficult to manage in the setting of open physes. In any event, the goal of ...
متن کاملArthroscopic Labral Repair in the Setting of Recurrent Posterior Shoulder Instability
Posterior shoulder instability, although relatively rare in the general population, is more commonly seen in athletes, especially those in contact sports. Although nonoperative treatment has been associated with satisfactory results in the setting of posterior shoulder instability, conservative management may ultimately fail and lead to recurrence particularly in young, male patients. Both arth...
متن کاملArthroscopic Pancapsular Shift With Labral Repair for Multidirectional Instability of the Shoulder
Initial treatment of shoulder multidirectional instability (MDI) consists of nonoperative modalities of physical therapy and rehabilitation; if this fails, surgical treatment can become necessary. MDI of the shoulder can be challenging to manage in individuals who fail conservative management. Historically, surgical treatment for MDI has been open capsular plication; however, arthroscopic capsu...
متن کاملRevision arthroscopic shoulder instability repair.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to report on a difficult patient population and to critically evaluate the role of revision arthroscopic stabilization surgery. METHODS Eighteen patients with failed traumatic instability repairs were treated with revision arthroscopic labral fixation and plication with a mean follow-up of 29.7 months (range, 24 to 48 months). There were 15 male patients ...
